Belgium – Art, Fashion, Tourism, Sports Science or Sports Administration
Specialised programs in Belgium take place in the Dutch part of Belgium. Limited space is available in specialised programs to Belgium. Early applications are recommended.
On this program, you will attend a typical Dutch-Belgian high school. The program involves you studying regular academic subjects as well as studying visual arts for at least 20 hours per week. A wide range of art forms will be studied. Students on the arts program should provide a portfolio of 5 pictures of work that they have created (ie drawings, paintings, sculptures, etc) as well as 2 reference letters from 2 different teachers (including 1 art teacher).
The specialised fashion program is designed for students who have a strong interest in fashion and are considering pursuing it as a career. In this program, you will have the opportunity to use your creative talents in your 20 hours/week of fashion related classes (ie design and construction of garments, patter design, accessories, etc). Students will learn about the commercial aspects of fashion and will also study regular academic subjects. Applicants for the fashion program must have been studying fashion or textile design for at least 2 years. Students will need to submit a portfolio of at least 5 photos of work they have done in relation to fashion (sketches, textile designs, sewing projects, etc) and have 2 letters of reference from two different teachers (including 1 fashion teacher). Students must submit a letter explaining why they would like to study fashion in Belgium with their application.
The specialised tourism program is designed for students who have a strong interest in tourism and are considering pursuing it as a career. Students should have a genuine interest in languages, history and geography. The program will focus on developing your skills in various languages as well as your understanding of history and geography around the world. The program will involve language study of French or German (at least 10 hours per week), as well as other academic subjects. Students applying for the tourism program must have a good knowledge of French or German. Students must provide 2 letters of reference from two different teachers and a letter explaining why they have applied for the tourism program, on application.
This program is designed for students that are strongly involved in one or more sports and who are thinking of a career in sports science or administration. In this program, students will study generic academic subjects as well as have at least 10 hours per week of practical instruction in a range of sports. Applicants must have been involved in at least one sport for the last 2 years through school or a community sporting club. Students must provide 2 letters of reference from different coaches or teachers. Students must submit a letter explaining why they would like to apply for the sports program to Belgium with their initial application.
