Tourism or Community Service in Ecuador

Ecuador 3Are you leaving school this year and want to do something different before beginning further study or full time employment?  Do you want to take a break in your University studies and feel like doing something different for a few months?  Are you interested in tourism or working with disadvantaged children?  YFU may have an answer and an adventure for you!

Tourism Program

YFU Australia/ New Zealand and YFU Ecuador are offering suitable applicants the opportunity to spend 5 or 10 months studying Tourism at a specialist Tourism institute in Ecuador.  The program involves:

  • Studying tourism in small classes (4-8 students)
  • Working as a Museum guide in semester breaks
  • Participation in optional trips (Galapagos, Ruta del Sol and a Jungle trip at additional cost)

The program fee includes all accommodation and meals with a host family, travel and medical insurance, orientations and assistance with visa applications. It is also an opportunity to improve your Spanish and to explore new parts of the world with the security of knowing the program is supported by an established exchange organisation with full insurance coverage and local support.

Who Can Apply?

Interested applicants must be aged between 17 and 19 years, must have completed secondary school and have a knowledge of Spanish (intermediate level).  The program fee includes host family accommodation and meals, 90 hours of Spanish instruction, medical and travel insurance, orientations.

Community Service Program

YFU Australia/ New Zealand and YFU Ecuador are offering suitable applicants the opportunity to spend either 3 or 6 months working with poor children and teenagers in charitable foundations in Ecuador. The program involves:

  • Assisting students with their homework
  • Tutoring children in English and basic computer programs
  • Teaching students games and organising group or sporting activities for them
  • Taking part in optional trips (Ruta del sol, Jungle trip, Galapagos -at additional fees)

These programs provide a wonderful opportunity for those seeking a career in teaching or social work, particularly with young people in underprivileged communities. It is also an opportunity to improve your Spanish and to explore new parts of the world with the security of knowing the program is supported by an established exchange organisation that has full insurance coverage and local support.

Who Can Apply?

Interested applicants must be aged between 18 and 21 years; must have completed secondary school and must have a desire to help young children as well as tutoring them in English and computers.  The program fee includes accommodation, a monthly allowance for food, medical and travel insurance, orientations and visa assistance.
